چکیده

We deal with the asymptotic enumeration of combinatorial structures on planar maps. Prominent instances of such problems are the enumeration of spanning trees, bipartite perfect matchings, and ice models. The notion of orientations with outdegrees prescribed by a function α : V → N unifies many different combinatorial structures, including the afore mentioned. We call these orientations α-orientations. The main focus of this paper are bounds for the maximum number of α-orientations that a planar map with n vertices can have, for different instances of α. We give examples of triangulations with 2.37n Schnyder woods, 3-connected planar maps with 3.209n Schnyder woods and inner triangulations with 2.91n bipolar orientations. These lower bounds are accompanied by upper bounds of 3.56n, 8n and 3.97n respectively. We also show that for any planar map M and any α the number of α-orientations is bounded from above by 3.73n and describe a family of maps which have at least 2.598n α-orientations. On the M-polynomial of planar chemical graphs

Let $G$ be a graph and let $m_{i,j}(G)$, $i,jge 1$, be the number of edges $uv$ of $G$ such that ${d_v(G), d_u(G)} = {i,j}$. The $M$-polynomial of $G$ is $M(G;x,y) = sum_{ile j} m_{i,j}(G)x^iy^j$. With $M(G;x,y)$ in hands, numerous degree-based topological indices of $G$ can be routinely computed. In this note a formula for the $M$-polynomial of planar (chemical) graphs which have only vertices...

EFFECT OF FINISH ROLLING TEMPERATURE ON MICROSTRUCTURE,TEXTURE AND PLANAR ANISOTROPY IN ALUMINUM ALLOY AA3004 SHEETS

AA3004 alloy is widely used in can making. The major concern in the production of canbodies is earing, which develop by high planar anisotropy of rolled sheet. Balance ofrecrystallisation and rolling textures together with a uniform and fine grain microstructure canminimize the earing. The effects of finish rolling temperature (FRT) on planar anisotropy, microstructure, texture development and m...

On topological aspects of orientations

1. Introduction Constrained orientations, that is orientations such that all the vertices have a prescribed indegree, relates to one another many combinatorial and topological properties such as arboricity, connectivity and planarity. These orientations are the basic tool to solve planar augmentation problems 2]. We are concerned with two classes of planar graphs: maximal planar graphs (i.e. po...

Rectangle and Square Representations of Planar Graphs

In the first part of this survey we consider planar graphs that can be represented by a dissections of a rectangle into rectangles. In rectangular drawings the corners of the rectangles represent the vertices. The graph obtained by taking the rectangles as vertices and contacts as edges is the rectangular dual. In visibility graphs and segment contact graphs the vertices correspond to horizonta...

Dynamic Behavior Analysis of a Planar Four-bar Linkage with Multiple Clearances Joint

In practice, clearances in the joints are inevitable due to tolerances, and defects arising from design and manufacturing. In the presence of clearance at a joint, a mechanism gains some additional, uncontrollable degrees of freedom which are the source of error. Moreover, joints undergo wear and backlashes and so cannot be used in precision mechanisms. In this study, the dynamic behaviour of ...
